Gallery 1988 has quickly become one of the worlds most talked about art galleries. Opened in LA in 2004 by California natives Katie Cromwell and Jensen Karp, the gallery has become the nation’s number one destination for pop-culture themed artwork and the premiere venue to witness the rise of emerging artists. This Friday premiers the second annual “Is This Thing On?” exhibit, a concept that Gallery 1988 and Funny Or Die have created that proves comedy really is an art form. The exhibit consists of 100 artists who have created paintings, prints, sculptures and more based on their favorite funny people. In addition, this year the gallery has commissioned nine different artists to pay tribute to “Weird Al” Yankovic by creating a career retrospective screenprint set, where each chronicle the major moments from the legend’s career. Read on for all the info you will need about the show, and a Funny Or Die provided sneak peak at some of the goodness that will be displayed.
