Youthful Skills: Photographer Jessica Boutte

Jessica Boutte grew up in Rappahannock, which is a small county in western Virginia known for it’s beautiful scenery and total lack of things to do. About a year ago she picked up a camera for the first time with the notion that she could ‘create’ a photo instead of just taking one. Since then Jessica has been working on some seriously good conceptual compositions. AFTER. ONLY. ONE. YEAR. (She’s got those good notion genes.) Her inspirations come from books and also by her contemporary photographers that she met through Flickr. (Thanks Flickr!) Jessica describes her process: “Whenever an idea comes to mind, I draw out a quick thumbnail in my sketchbook of what I’m thinking- but never too specific because I like the spontaneity each model brings to the camera. Then I gather my props, costumes and head out to shoot- where I’ll take ‘expansion’ photos to create a landscape later on in PS (photoshop).” It will be super exciting to watch her career progress. She no doubt has that “eye” and mindset that is few and far between, and she didn’t even no it until last year. Check out more of her work after the jump.
