Five Favs

Welcome to my Five Favs. This is my personal list of things I’m currently digging hard on. Like, so hard it’s bleeding. I’m sure you all know the feeling. You can’t get it out of your head, and you can’t place it, but you LOVE IT! It doesn’t have to be the newest thing out there. It could even be something you loved, left, and came back to. So, this is my list. I hope you love it and it becomes one of your five favs. Current and nostalgic all mixed together is just fun. Feel free to send in your Five Favs. BTDubs, the numbering system is in no particular order. Enjoy!

“World of Jenks” Season 2 Trailer

YouTube Preview Image

World of Jenks”: Andrew Jenks is a young filmmaker who shoots mostly documentaries. “World of Jenks” is his MTV show that is currently in its second season and I’m really enjoying it. The first season was good, which had him follow a new young person every week. From a homeless woman and a surfer to a young man with autism and even comedian Dan St. Germain. This time around, Jenks is following only three people the whole time. The aforementioned sweet autistic young man, Chad, a funny young lady with cancer, Kaylin, and a talented young man trying to make a difference in Oakland CA, D-Real. This season is SO good! It draws you in and you really care about these people and want to know what happens to them. This is a great show and nice change of pace for MTV. Watch it please? Follow him @AndrewJenks.

IAMDYNAMITE – “Where Will We Go”

IAMDYNAMITE – “Where Will We Go”: This is a real rock anthem with a chorus full of questions. IAMDYNAMITE is a rock duo from MI and their cd is called supermegafantastic, which is where you’ll find this song. They don’t like spaces. This song WILL GET STUCK IN YOUR HEAD THE WAY I”M CURRENTLY STUCK IN CAPS LOCK! It’s a real fun one. You must try it out! And when you do, listen to it loud. Follow them @dynamiteduo.

Javelin – “Light Out”

Javelin – “Light Out”: This is another duo, but they’re cousins from NY and have an electro/pop/dance thing going on. “Light Out” is simple which is weird since it is an electronic type of song, but it’s great. It comes off their latest album Hi Beams. The drums in this song stand out almost as their own lyric. It really is an interesting song that is absolutely worth listen to. So, do yourself and me a favor and have a go at it. Follow them @JavelinJamz.

Lydia – “Knee Deep”

Lydia – “Knee Deep”: Alright, I love this song guys. You know when you hear a Lydia song because Leighton Antelman has such a unique voice. This AZ band has been around for a while. They have a soft/quiet/hushed indie rock sound and you can hear what I mean their single “Knee Deep.” The sound is so gentle, it kinda distracts you from the lyrics, which have a slight bad boy feel to it that gives the song more layers. The more the merrier. Follow Them @LYDIAmusic.

Hellogoodbye – “Thoughts Give Me The Creeps (Live) Did It Kill You Party”

YouTube Preview Image

HellogoodbyeWould It Kill You? (Deluxe Edition): I’ve liked this cd for a while, and left it, but I recently got back into it! Hellogoodbye is a CA band with a real indie-pop-rock-version-of-the-Beach-Boys-thing happening. They’ve released this cd, Would It Kill You?, a few times with slightly different versions, so I just listed the most recent one. I full on love this cd! It’s all so good. It’s cute, fun, young, and totally makes you want to go to the sock hop with Chris and dance the night away. JSYK my Chris has nothing to do with the band, he’s just who I dance with. In my head. Wanna know my favorite songs? Here! “Find Something To Do” “When We First Met” “When We First Kissed” “The Thoughts That Give Me The Creeps” (there’s a video of that song that I love here) “I Never Can Relax” “Coppertone” “Not Ever Coming Home”. That’s nearly all of them. Please listen to this cd!!!! Follow them @itshellogoodbye.
